Original tune: O Mercy Divine, O Couldst Thou Incline (Cradle Song); William J. Kirkpatrick, 1895.
Philippians 4:4-9
Rejoice in the Lord and again you rejoice,
Let patience and mercy always be first choice.
For near us is our Lord and soon will return,
Be anxious for nothing, for heaven we yearn.
Be anxious for nothing, be anxious to pray,
Our Lord, he is sovereign, do trust and obey.
Take ev’ry thing to Him, cast ev’ry concern,
Show you are his children by all you have learned.
So finally brethren whatever is true,
Whatever is lovely or of good repute.
Let these things dwell in you that’s worthy of praise,
And the peace of God shall be known in this way.
Alternate verse:
Be heavenly minded, be humble to serve,
Our Lord became subject, his judgments deferred.
The things you have received, the things you have heard,
Has become our mission to make known his word.
