What Shall I Render to the Lord (Ps. 116:12)

Original Music: For the Beauty of the Earth; Conrad Kocher, 1786-1872; adapt. William Henry Monk, 1823-1889.

What shall I render to the Lord, for thy mercy shown to me?
How shall I live to please thy name, Thou hast dealt so bountifully.
Gracious Lord, more love we need to accomplish all for Thee.

Show thy glory to inspire, grant us hearts that will forgive.
May our affections be Thine own, for by faith we all shall live.
Gracious Lord, more love we need to accomplish all for Thee.

For the prize that waits us all, grant us grace to finish strong.
Till we rest in heaven’s land, present suff’rings here not long.
Gracious Lord, more love we need to accomplish all for Thee.

What shall I render to the Lord, all his benefits are mine.
Give thy grace to lose this life, to attain new life sublime.
Gracious Lord, more love we need to accomplish all for Thee.

Blessed Are Those (Mt.5:3-12)

Original Music: How Great Thou Art, Stuart K. Hine; 1899

Blessed are those who are yet poor in spirit.
Consider what great mercy God has shown.
For theirs will be thy kingdom now in heaven
Secured for all, God’s grace has ever known.

Chorus: Blessed are those, whom God would spare his wrath
They will receive, who have believed.
Blessed are those, for God has shed his blood.
Blessed are those who have believed.

Blessed are those who mourn for sin and evil.
Consider what great glory did offend.
For they shall know true comfort and compassion,
Chosen in Christ, whose enemies befriend.

Blessed are those who want and thirst for goodness.
Consider what great happiness is found.
For they will know thy joy and satisfaction,
In Christ alone, who bore our curse and crown.

Blessed are those who strive for peace in meekness.
Consider what great pow’r God laid aside.
For they shall be called his own sons and daughters,
Purchased by God, in Christ now made alive.

Blessed are those who suffer for His namesake.
Consider what great sorrow God did bear.
For theirs will be a great reward in heaven,
A crown of life, eternal joy to share.

As Oft As We Gather Together

Original Music: I Stand Amazed in the Presence, Charles H. Gabriel; 1856-1932.

We take this bread in remembrance of Christ who died willingly.
Who gave his life as a ransom, atonement to set men free.
How marvelous! How wonderful! Is this bread broken for me.
How marvelous! How wonderful! Is the Savior’s blood for me.

We drink this cup in remembrance; the wrath that he bore was mine.
He took my guilt and my judgment, released by his blood divine.
How marvelous! How wonderful! Is this bread broken for me.
How marvelous! How wonderful! Is the Savior’s blood for me.

We take this meal in remembrance, at peace with our fellow man
Receiving thy word with conviction, in Christ alone we stand.
How marvelous! How wonderful! Is this bread broken for me.
How marvelous! How wonderful! Is the Savior’s blood for me.

We worship the triune creator, whose wisdom confounds the wise.
This gospel we preach to the nations is life for the soul that dies.
How marvelous! How wonderful! Is this bread broken for me.
How marvelous! How wonderful! Is the Savior’s blood for me.

As oft as we gather together, remind of the Christ who gives.
His mercies are new every morning; his grace is ours to live.
How marvelous! How wonderful! Is this bread broken for me.
How marvelous! How wonderful! Is the Savior’s blood for me.

Christ Alive Within (baptism)

Original Music: I surrender All, Winfield S. Weeden, 1847-1908.

Let the waters over take me. In thy death, Lord, bury me.
I confess my sin and hatred, by your mercy, I believe.
Wash away my sin. Make me new again.
Raise me up from condemnation. Christ alive within.

Death to life by resurrection, let Thy power reign in me
Walking daily, Spirit guiding, wanting more and more to see.
Wash away my sin. Make me new again.
Raise me up from condemnation. Christ alive within

Let me know thy great assurance, once made public, all to see.
Fill me with your joy and knowledge, Thy baptism reminds me.
Wash away my sin. Make me new again.
Raise me up from condemnation. Christ alive within
